About us
Dew4Him started as a Bible study at the North Carolina Correctional Institute for Women in Raleigh in 2006. In the years following, as we built relationships with hundreds of women, we discovered that past trauma, abuse, and addiction were the primary underlying causes that led to their incarceration. They needed rescuing from the bondage that had stolen their freedom.
FREELY FLOURISHING
As we moved forward, we worked diligently to develop ongoing programming to serve women while in prison and after their release. With the help of mentors and volunteers, these programs began to take root. In the months that followed, we began to see how many women in our churches and our community experienced some of the same bondages as the women we served in prison. They too were stuck, but they were wearing masks to cover their issues, fears, and inadequacies.
We discovered that most women struggle with a myriad of issues that leave them stuck in cycles of self-destructive coping behavior. That’s when our mission expanded to coming alongside all women who are struggling so they can heal and grow, regardless of their status or circumstances.
GOD’S WORD TRANSFORMS LIVES
Going into the hole in the sidewalk with women and ‘getting our hands dirty’ with the messiness of life’s issues helped us understand how shame is a significant factor. We began to create safe environments that encourage vulnerability and allow authentic relationships to form, which are crucial keys to overcoming barriers to freedom.
Today, our programs empower women to develop tools that address both visible and underlying issues using practical and spiritual applications to bring about lasting change. We believe that the truth of God’s Word transforms lives from the inside out — helping women flourish and walk down a new street. As we move forward, we are dedicated to embrace women without judgment, educate them in biblical truth and self-awareness, and equip them with courage, grace, and compassion to cultivate growth.
A Hole in the Sidewalk
I walk down the street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I fall in.
I am lost… I am helpless.
It isn’t my fault.
It takes forever to find a way out.
I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I pretend I don’t see it.
I fall in again.
I can’t believe I am in the same place.
But, it isn’t my fault.
It still takes me a long time to get out.
I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I see it is there.
I still fall in. It’s a habit.
My eyes are open.
I know where I am.
It is my fault. I get out immediately.
I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I walk around it.
I walk down another street.
